Oh, Mickey, you're so fine...
Okay, last day of the trimester, and I'm sitting here in my class with a couple kids who needed to make up some work to bring their grades up to passing. About fifteen minutes ago, we were invaded by two 8th grade girls, one in my class (Becky) and one from another class (Shelby). Killing time before the 8th grade basketball game begins tonight, the girls began to peruse my classroom video collection, and found my Rhino Records "New Wave Hits, vol. 1" tape, featuring the likes of "I Ran" by A Flock of Seagulls, "In a Big Country" by Big Country, and what has seemed to become the anthem of my 8th graders this year, Toni Basil's "Mickey."
As I sit here, Becky and Shelby are in the process of memorizing the choreography from the video. (If you can't remember it, it was basically Ms. Basil and seven or eight cheerleaders doing a pretty straighforward cheer/dance routine). They've now rewound and played the video over fifteen times. Their plan is to get five other girls and do the routine for our end-of-the-year talent show.
Do I love my job or what?

I'm so sorry, Mr. Rainey. And Cara and Amber, you guys are SO weird. Remember that time during the Channel One quiz and Whitney didn't know the answer was Cuba? OMG, I was laughing SO hard. Especially with those obvious clues you gave. god, that was hilarious. I think the only time i've laughed harder was in 7th grade when Frank farted. I was honestly laughing so hard, i just could NOT breathe. lol, that was the funniest thing ever.
