Telluride Rain Dance

We took the girls up to the ski resort at Telluride, and rode the free gondola ride up to the summit where the trendy tourist shops all live. After oohing and aahing over the beautiful view and riding the gondola back down into town, Kat and the girls waited in a small covered area while I went to retrieve the van during a summer downpour featuring raindrops roughly the size of baseballs. (Rain in the Pacific Northwest, for those of you who tend to think of us as the Rain Factory, is usually of the soft, sprinkly kind that's perfect to walk in. This was beat-your-face-in frontier-style rain, the kind of rain that takes no prisoners).
Anyway, as I strode off to get the van (we'd only parked a few streets away), Nikki and Emily were suddenly overcome with that kid kind of joy that only a sudden downpour can bring, and began dancing in the rain.
