...and then there were ten
Mouse #10 (TEN! CRIPES! WHERE DO I LIVE, THE FRIGGIN' WOODS?) was caught in a humane trap in the cupboard under the island, right next to the hole for the electrical conduit that comes up from under the house (the way in - I can tell because it's been chewed away systematically). The trap is a four-inch-long affair with an enclosed case that rests on a pivot, with a weighted door that closes once mousy sets foot inside the thing. I was leaving for work this morning, and, upon glancing in the cupboard, found the trap shut...and shaking gently.
I'm too tired for any witty flights of fancy - just know I took it with me to work, and let it go in the big field by the new Wal-Mart.
Just in case anyone's wondering, yes, it is getting old.

You don't even know how glad I am that I am not living just 3 doors down now. There wouldn't be any humane traps in my house. I wonder where they are coming from because we caught 5 or 6 a year while we lived there. I guess we just can't see our way to set them free so they can multiply and come back. Frankly, the Wal-mart field is not far enough away. If you are going to free them do it far enough away that they won't be able to find there way back. I think you should start tagging them to see how many know where you live. (ha-ha)
