Wait a second... what is THAT?!?!?!?

So I'm at church this morning, and I pop into the men's room to freshen up, as it were. I splash some water on my face, and survey my handsome mug staring back at myself from the mirror. All is fine, until... I spot something... weird. See if you can figure it out in the photo below:

If'n you can't figure it out, it's a gray hair. Actually, it has several buddies, all across my 'stache and down into the bottom part of my oh-so-1993 goatee.

I've had some grayage in the hairs on my chest for a couple years now, and, somehow, they haven't bothered me as much. Maybe it's because they're under my shirt all the time. Having gray hairs show up in my beard, however, means I'm really no longer able to ignore the fact that I, along with the rest of you, am getting older.

It's an odd thing, growing older. I don't feel any different than when I was, say, 23 - but I certainly am looking different these days. I've begun to notice the precursors of wrinkles around my eyes, and I'm starting to believe that the spare tire around my waist is here to stay. There are three little people who call me "Daddy," and I hardly even blink at the wonder of that any longer.

I think age is a state of mind, more than anything. I find my work keeps me young more than anything else. Teaching 8th grade can really only do two things to an individual: keep you young, or kill you. For me, it's been a fountain of youth.

Still, those gray hairs are a bit... I don't know, disturbing, I guess. They just snuck up on me, appearing out of nowhere. I'll monitor them, and keep you all posted as more of them show up.
