New York, New York

Leaving tonight, 9:55 flight, to New York City via Atlanta. I'll be spending a week touring East Coast highlights - Gettysburg, Washington, DC, Williamsburg, VA, are the highlights. Won't be posting while I'm gone, but expect a BIG post (with pics, hopefully) when I return.

Scott,

have fun bro; I've never been, and I'm jealous.

You know how blogger has those little ads running at the top of the page in the header bar, apparently based on keywords in the blog? Right now the ad on your site reads: 'Farm fresh ladybugs for sale. Free praying mantis egg with order.' This cracks me up.

I better be careful what I blog about!

Be well, friend.

I know those cultural learning trips are jam packed but if you have a few hours free, the Water Town USA about 1/2 hour from Williamsburg VA (associated with BUSCH GARDENS) is better than any of the water parks in California. And since I started reading your blog about middle school teachers at Six Flaggs....

Tim,

Sounds good. I'm looking for a website devoted totally to ladybugs that I can forward to him in a comment. Maybe somebody else can look for one about waterparks, tropical fish or the proper and safe use or a roto-tiller.

Even better... This site has REALLY DETAILED instructions on gardening avec ladybugs:

http://www.girlposse.com/in_the_kitchen/gardening/luring_ladybugs.html

Some of the article sections include:
***Luring Ladybugs Into Your Garden
***Identification of the Ladybug
***Life Cycle
***Purchasing Ladybugs

("Before releasing them into the garden, here are a few tips to help ensure that they stay where you want them:

1.Only release ladybugs after sun down or before sun-up. Ladybugs navigate by the sun and in the evenings & early mornings, they tend to stay put.

2.Pre-water the area where you are releasing them. Not only will the ladybugs appreciate the drink, free-moisture on the leaves helps the ladybugs to "stick" to plants.

3.In the warm months, it helps to chill the ladybugs in the fridge before releasing them. Ladybugs tend to crawl more than fly in colder temperatures and the overnight stay in the fridge won't harm them in anyway.

4.On severely infested plants like roses, drape a floating row cover or thin sheet over the plant and release the ladybugs underneath. Within a day, the ladybugs will have found the aphids and will be happily munching away at them.)

So I was thinking... How do I know scott... I mean we are all here becuase of Scott, I mean not on earth but on this sucking of the marrow thing...

My first memory of Scott is at Hume Lake High School camp. I think Steve Dangaron (sp?) put us in the same room becuase we went to the same High School. Scott was a funny guy... and I don't think he talked to me at all at Los Al High School that year. Oh I am sure it was fun for this senior to say hey I know that freshman... but I don't recall very often that happening....

I made it over to scotts house once... You know now that I think about it, I think you all were just so much cooler then me becuase I was so young. I mean you guys could be complete jerks (which we know some of you are now that I am older) and I would think you are the greatests... And then to the other half I was probably just known as David's little brother... Oh well.. It is cool to have known scott and to NOW get reaquianted with his.... hmmm.. well... I think all your comments have kind of said it...

I met Scott in sixth grade. We were in Mr. Reichardt's class (all time favorite teacher). While I knew him before this I am sure, my first memory of Scott was when we were doing the Sim City (called Mini-society back then) activities in our Language Arts block of classes, my friend Rachel and I opened a library. But we forgot that there was no income from a library (and didn't yet understand the concept of taxes I am assuming) so we tried to brow beat Scott and David Terrell into paying for free books :)

Winter-camp 1988 at the Big Bear Tennis Ranch. I'm pretty sure it was the first occasion of the Red Hyundai w/ Masking Tape display. Lori-Ann Shaw (now Marano) went together and we knew NO ONE. Then we met, Scott. And Natalie, Ken T. and Stacy W., Randy Taylor and Kim (?), Jasper, Jeff Greco, Tina Goodykoontz... Wow! The list could go on for about another 37 people... That was the best winter-camp I can remember, and hey, we gained a great friend in Scott! :)

I don't really "KNOW" Rainey per se. My sister-in-law was one of his students (I think he is by far her favorite teacher). We went to the opening day showing of one of the new Star Wars movies and arrived super early to wait in a ridiculous line. Rainey met us all (my husband's family and some friends) there. He and Katrina showed up all punked out (spiked hair sprayed some funky color, customized denim jacket, Converse hi-tops as I recall). I thought it was great--and it definitely made my sister-in-law smile.

I'm pretty sure the first time I met Scott was a high school youth group trip to Knott's Berry Farm--maybe a Christian music concert night? It's been nearly twenty years, give me a break! I just remember there was something about a pole.

It was one of those line dividers to help funnel foot traffic in the right direction. Engaged in conversation, he didn't see it and walked squarely into it. His voice quality changed briefly, as did the color of his complexion.

I don't think it was the first impression he was hoping for.

Oh Sherry, the memory - It made me laugh so!!! Do you remember the Frankie t-shirt he was wearing that night? Or the extreme lengths he went to to get that Carmen poster?

Gotta love our Scott. Smart, Sweet, a bit outrageous within in his own structured ways. Katrina will never be bored :)

Does Scott still eat roast beef sandwiches on wheat bread with mustard and pepper?

Hmm...Frankie, Carmen, roast beef...none of them ring a bell. Sorry. I do remember "stealing" his brand new car once. That didn't go over well. Go figure.

Can you post a picture in a comment on these things? I have a pic of Scott and Ben - draped - over the hood of his old red Hyundai (when it was new and pre taped windows). It is a total hoot.

Sherry or Karen, I would appreciate any help/instructions if this can be done: mrsfish99@msn.com

Sorry about the multiple deletions there. Those of you who keep track of the comment count had your hopes up for something good.

As far as inserting a photo, the comment section can only receive text, not images, so that's not possible as far as my tech knowlege(y) goes, but if your photo is on-line anywhere, like on your own website, you can post a direct link to it. Here's the HTML code to post within your comment text.

For a funny photo, click (a href="http://www.yourwebsite.com")here.(/a)

Now here's the tricky part. Using parentheses, like I did in this sample, will not work. You have to use brackets, shift+comma and shift+period instead, in order for the computer to read it as HTML.

Here's what that same sample would look like published, using brackets and a real URL:

For a funny photo, click here.Ah, glorious HTML.

Wow--I was just able to get into the comments section--I kept getting errors.

Well, I met Scott back in 1990 (?) when we both worked summer camp together. We started hanging out right away, because he was so much fun and absolutely nuts!! We hung out--he taught me how to drive a stick shift (yes, the red Hyundai, which I promptly stalled, started again and then drove into a fence). Yes, those were the days. We did crazy things like ice-blocking at Long Beach State and just having fun.

My fondest memory of Scooter was being in Hungary and team teaching with him. We had a blast! He mailed me a copy of the video and I was such a basket case back then. I have mellowed, for those of you who knew me then. When I get the time and courage, I am going to post a Blog site as well.

Scooter--you are the greatest. I am so happy we have remained in contact all of these years!!
