The weird stuff that comes up in those Google ads...

I cut and pasted this verbatim from an ad that appeared at the top of my blog today. Alas, clicking on the link sent me to a nonexistent site.

Beavis Butthead SaleNew & used Beavis Butthead. aff Check out the huge selection now!

Now, for the life of me, I can't imagine exactly what a "Beavis Butthead" would be, or what it would even look like. Actually, I shudder to think.

And what's with that little neologism the ad writer came up with - "aff"? "Aff"? What is that? Bill the Cat with a lisp? A creative spelling of "aft"? More likely an illiterate "ass," would be my guess.

Then there's the fact they have "new AMPERSAND used Beavis Butthead." Not "and," but that cool ol' almost General Mills logo, the ampersand. It gets used a lot on the web, but, seriously, folks, is hitting shift-7 really that much easier than typing out a three-letter word?

Beavis Butthead. Get yours today.

Or not.

Whatever.
