Hamms Beer... I think this was a subsidiary of (or at least bought out by) Olympia Brewery. I took a free tour there one time, with Nat, actually, and they had Hamms paraphernalia.

Hey, btw, we totally need to come up with a "quote" tote board and way to track it...

This is a hiliarious article. And Rainier beer? Oh my gosh, my dad grew up in the Yakima valley and he told me once when he was a kid they used to say 'rainer beer comes from here' and point to their, uh, you know. How's that for local color?

And congrats to Karen for getting the trivia question first!

Do I get any extra points for knowing the full lyrics of the Hamms song?

Cue Indian tom-toms...

"From the land of sky blue waters (waaaaters)
from the land of pines, lofty balsams,
comes the beer refreshing,
Hamm's the beer refreshing...
Haaaaaaams!"

PS...favorite and ONLY beer ever seen in the hands of Lou Rainey, circa 1958-1963 (from then on he drank Olympia for a few years, then switched to whatever was on sale. "Beer is beer," he'd mutter, cracking open another one that you brought him from the fridge.

PAT RAINEY
